Some dogs will take to the PetSTEP II immediately. For those that don't, put the ramp flat on the ground and walk your dog over it (a reward placed on the ramp will help or you might consider feeding your pet on the ramp to get them used to it). Gradually raise the ramp and lead your pet by the collar to a reward placed at the top of the ramp, this will encourage them to climb the ramp themselves. You'll only need to do this once or twice. If using the PetSTEP II for entering a motor vehicle, it is important to take your dog for a ride after entering the vehicle to establish a routine.
